Here at the Party Kiosk we are often asked how to remove creases from plastic tablecloths. Take care when trying out either of the methods below:
Hair Dryer: A few minutes blowing usually takes out most of the creases. Easy if you have someone to hold the tablecloth for you. If you are doing this with the tablecloth on the table, be very careful as it can damage the table and if you do it too long, the tablecloth will disintegrate. Alternatively use the ironing board as a backdrop to do this. Refold very carefully or place directly on the table.
Ironing: Place a pillowcase or similar between iron and tablecloth. A hot iron will work (no steam as this will damage the plastic) if you hold it down for a few seconds. Keep trying to get the optimal time it will take. Do not put iron directly on plastic tablecloth, or it will disintegrate.
Tumble Dryer: We haven’t tried this method, and I guess it takes a lot of care, so we do not necessarily recommend.
In essence, once the tablecloths are in place and the table has all the plates, decorations and cutlery on, you will not notice the creases!
Why plastic?
Plastic disposable tablecloths / tablecovers are designed very thin so they drape well over the table. They are very popular for children’s parties, wedding receptions and themed parties. They are an inexpensive way of adding colour to any party and protect the tables themselves from spillage. There are different qualities of plastic tablecloths. Obviously if you do not want creases at all, there are plastic banquet rolls, only problem being – you need to cut to size!

when using hair dryers, it would be better to use those low wattage types because they are not very damaging to the hair ~;-
